Fear of growing up can show up as resistance, anxiety, or clinging to younger behaviors. Older kids may worry about increased expectations, loss of support, or fear of failure.

Use this when fears are expressed verbally or emotionally.
How to do it:

Why it works: Reassurance reduces anxiety about change.

Option B: Trauma-Informed / Nervous System Support
Use this when fear causes shutdown or avoidance.
How to do it:
Reduce future-focused pressure
Bring focus to the present

What to say:
"We're just talking about today."
"You're safe right now."

Why it works: Staying present calms the nervous system.

Option C: Calm Boundary + Skill-Building
Use this when avoidance blocks growth.

Acknowledge fear
Encourage gradual independence
