Social anxiety increases as peer awareness and self-consciousness grow. Fear of judgment, embarrassment, or rejection can lead to avoidance or withdrawal.

Validate fears
Normalize nervousness

Use this when anxiety overwhelms regulation.
How to do it:
Focus on grounding
Reduce pressure

Why it works: Safety supports courage.

Option C: Calm Boundary + Skill-Building
Use this when avoidance limits participation.
How to do it:
Acknowledge anxiety
Encourage gradual exposure

What to say:

Why it works: Gradual exposure builds confidence.
